POP-UP CLINIC
YEDEA is an eight-week service-learning project in Koforidua, Ghana, which develops innovative solutions for issues facing Ghanaian communities' pursuit of education and healthcare, using Design Thinking. Student researchers identify means of introducing Telemedicine services into the existing infrastructure to improve the lives of underserved and/or rural communities to receive attention for their health concerns promptly.
The Problem
How can the YEDEA project provide the people of Koforidua with telemedicine services as an alternative to the full regional hospital? This prototype must include the use of a shipping container and fit within a $15K budget.
Many people face many struggles when they become ill making it very difficult to receive the help they require to recover.

"people need quality, quick, and cost effective healthcare, they should never have to compromise their health because of lack of accessibility"

The Solution
Ghana is one of Africa’s largest mobile markets so having the ability to set up time to visit the pop-up clinic using a cellphone streamlines the consultation process to quickly diagnosis and address a patient's needs through an app or in-person.

The shipping container would undergo modifications giving it the ability to expand during the day and safely store medical equipment at the end of the day.
